Interlaminar fracture, or delamination, continues to be one of the more serious failure modes for laminated composite structures. Delaminaton arises from high out of plane loads where there are no fibres to resist these loads. Delamination can occur from tensile, shear loads, or a combination of the two. Several methods to characterise delamination have been developed which include.
