> Fibre volume (Vf) fraction >Areal
weight/thickness.
An
alternative, simpler method to measure the fibre volume fraction
is to calculate it based on certain known information about
the composite. The relationship between laminate thickness
and fibre volume can be determined knowing the fibre areal
weight and fibre density. The thickness of the laminate with
a known number of plies is measured. The fibre volume fraction
is measured using the following equation:
This
method is only applicable to laminated composites as a distinct
number of plies must be identified.
