What numerical analysis techniques are available?

The numerical analysis techniques for composites are more complicated than for homogeneous materials because of their anisotropic nature. The significant difference in properties longitudinally and traverse to the fibre mean that composites should never be analysed as isotropic materials. However mathematical proceedings have been developed that allow stresses and strains both longitudinally and transverse to the fibre to be identified for different laminate constructions.
