Epoxies are the most commonly used resin for manufacturing composites; they are produced from the reaction of epichlorohydrin (ECH) with bisphenol-A (BPA). Sometimes trace amounts of unreacted ECH can be present in the epoxy, however, the levels are considered too low to be a hazard. The main risk with epoxies is skin irritation and/or rashes that can result from manual handling leading to dermatitis if the exposure is prolonged.
