These fibres are generally larger (12-15mm diameter) than either glass or carbon fibre and as such are too large to be inhaled, although some manufacturing processes result in the fracturing of the fibre into much smaller sections that are respirable. Aramid fibres do not cause skin irritation and the presence of airborne fibres is low.
